Just 1411 left! Save Our Tigers

Our national animal is fighting for its life.
From around 40,000 at the turn of the last century, there are just 1411 tigers left in India. If we don’t act now, we could lose this part of our heritage forever. Speak up, blog, share the concern, stay informed… Every little bit helps.

When we protect one tiger, we protect about a 100 sq. km of area and thus save other species living in its habitat. Therefore, it’s not just about saving a beautiful animal. It is about making sure that we live a little longer as the forests are known to provide ecological services like clean air, water, pollination, temperature regulation etc. This way, our planet can still be home to our children.

DONATE NOW ONLINE (through WWF Website)

Your generous contribution will make a great difference in saving this majestic specie.

If you would like to make your contribution by cheque or Demand Draft, you’ll need to download a form, print it, fill it in and attach the crossed cheque or Demand Draft (made in favor of WWF-India) & send it to the following address:

The Imperfect Blogger

“If we had to say what writing is, we would have to define it essentially as an act of courage.”
~ Cynthia Ozick~

It’s a curse to have a thin skin. For a blogger and a writer, it is deadly. If you need to be liked by all the people all of the time, writing is impossible. Too often I find myself wrestling with my need to be liked and my need to write honestly.

In The Courage To Write, Ralph Keyes says, “If you’re not scared, you’re not writing.” Lately I’ve been scared to death, afraid of exposing too much of my private life and afraid of hurting people through my writing. The result has been a big fat case of writer’s block, not what Keyes had in mind.

To do a decent job of blogging you’ve got to take the risk to expose yourself. To be a good person at other hand, you give people hope by saying, “Yes, I’ve been there,” disclosing just enough of your story to connect with theirs, all the while keeping good boundaries. I’m a blogger and I want to be a good person too (honestly), so I try to do both, walking the tight rope without ever betraying my patients’ confidence or privacy.

There’s even a video at the end of the post which will let you feel yourself being in the story.

So, here it goes. This is story of a boy… may be age of 23, slim, short-tempered, adventurous, carefree, who got lost somewhere no one knows. A place where no one can ever go, a place which people doubt for its existence. His friends, family, people who were there with him at the time of this unwanted event have no idea about how to bring him back and from where to bring him back.

Many of my friends have been asking me questions regarding Twitter.com. It’s hard to explain each and everyone the same things repeatedly again and again. So i thought i’ll write down something here and let everyone read about it. To know what twitter is and why it is so famous, please google about it. The things i’ve posted below are the tips and tricks you can use twitter for various other functions. ;)

Q: I am a blogger and want to cross-post articles from my blog into Twitter?

A: Go to FeedBlitz, type the address of the feed in the Subscribe box and choose Twitter from the subscription options. The other option is Twitter Feed but that requires you to have an OpenID.

Q: I know that TwitPic allows me to post pictures on Twitter but I want to use my existing Flick account with Twitter.

A: Go to TwitterGram and associate your Flickr name with your Twitter account. Now assign a special tag (say Twitter) and any picture that you post on Flickr with that Tag will automatically get posted in your Twitter account as well.

Q: I just ordered a laptop on eBay and the owner shipped it via UPS. I want to track this package on Twitter.

A: Follow TrackThis on Twitter and send this bot a Direct Message with your Airway Bill Number. You’ll be notified each time your package changes location. Works with FedEx, UPS, DHL and USPS.

tenn-techIn a new nationwide survey of 1,280 teens and young adults, researchers found that one in five teens are using technology to do what else? Send sexually explicit pictures of themselves to others — either posted online or sent via cell phone. One in five teens and one-third of young adults had said they had send a nude or semi-nude image of themselves to others.

It doesn’t really get any better…

The survey found that nearly half of all teens have received a sexually suggestive message via email, text or IM, and that nearly 40 percent of teens have sent such a message. Most young adults have sent one (59 percent) or received one (64 percent). Of course most survey respondents say they are sending this stuff to their boyfriend or girlfriend, but some of them (around 15 percent) have posted this sort of thing for an online friend.
